Beaufort Released Mugshot Source
Beaufort County's official 15-day release feed includes a county-hosted booking photograph with each observed released record. That makes it the clearest first-party channel for a recent image tied to an actual jail exit. The same record includes booking and release timestamps, booking and inmate numbers, arresting agency, court, offense, bond, and a VINE link.
A booking photograph documents appearance when the jail created the image. It does not show how the person looks now, decide whether a charge was proven, or state where the person went after Beaufort custody ended. A transfer can produce a release timestamp while custody continues elsewhere. Keep the photograph linked to its precise booking episode.
Beaufort Released Photo Channels
The correct photo channel depends on when and where the person was held. Beaufort jail images, SCDC prisoner images, registry photographs, and news images arise from different records and should not be treated as interchangeable.
| Channel | Photo? | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| County 15-day released feed | Yes | Match the image to the released booking and exact exit timestamp. |
| County current or booking feeds | Yes | Use for the booking identity, but verify release in the released feed. |
| County records request | Possible | Ask for the existing image tied to a booking number after the public window. |
| SCDC current inmate search | Yes | Applies to a person currently incarcerated in state prison, not a county bond release. |
| SCDC Released Inmate List | No observed photo | Use for state release date and type, then request an existing image separately. |
| SLED registry | For registrants only | It is not a general jail release or mugshot source. |
| Official news release | Sometimes | Treat it as an event-specific image, not current custody proof. |
No verified Beaufort County, South Carolina sheriff jail app provides a separate mugshot search. Material about an app-only roster, an 85-bed jail, 252 phone numbers, or Washington belongs to Beaufort County, North Carolina. The general Beaufort County Connect app is not documented as an inmate-photo tool.
Find Beaufort Release Feed Photos
Start at the county Inmate Inquiry System and select “Inmates Released Within the Last 15 Days.” The XML's image field points to the county-hosted booking photo. Read the feed generation time, then match the name, booking number, inmate number, booking time, and release time.
- Use the official county gateway rather than an image-search result or copied roster.
- Select the 15-day released view, not the 72-hour booking report.
- Confirm the precise booking episode before relying on the image.
- Read the release timestamp as departure from Beaufort custody, not automatic community freedom.
- Check the court or next custodian when the record suggests a transfer or unresolved hold.
The feed is a rolling public display. Fifteen days is not a stated archival retention period. When the entry drops from view, request the image from the record custodian instead of seeking an old mirror.
Request Beaufort Booking Photos
A narrow county request is the appropriate route after the public feed window. Identify the person, booking number, and approximate booking and release dates. Ask for the existing booking photograph associated with that episode. If release details are also needed, separately identify the booking or release sheet and movement record.
- Collect the full name, date of birth, inmate number, booking number, and limited date range.
- Submit the request through the Beaufort County FOIA portal for Detention Center material.
- Describe the existing image precisely. Do not ask the county to create a new photo record or narrative.
- Request digital delivery and ask for a fee estimate if staff search or redaction may be needed.
- Contact the correct custodian if the desired item is a Sheriff's incident report rather than a detention record.
The captured county portal shows the official request channel.

The portal covers county records. The elected Sheriff's Office maintains a separate JustFOIA route for incident and offense reports, which are distinct from booking photos and jail movement records.
Beaufort Mugshot Request Costs
The county fee schedule lists department retrieval at $21 per hour, FOIA-specialist redaction at $26 per hour, printed copies at $0.20 per page, and a USB at $7. Digital files up to 15 MB may be emailed, while larger files may use secure download. These rates can change, and exemptions or redactions may affect production.
Under South Carolina FOIA §30-4-30, a written determination is generally due within ten business days, or twenty business days for records more than twenty-four months old. Production generally follows within thirty calendar days after determination, or thirty-five for older records. The law permits reasonable fees and a deposit of up to twenty-five percent of expected cost. It does not override other confidentiality or destruction rules.
Beaufort State Prison Mugshots
A person sent from Beaufort County to SCDC follows the state system. The current SCDC inmate search includes a photograph and picture date for people now sentenced to and incarcerated in SCDC. SCDC removes released people from that current search. Its separate Released Inmate List provides historical release fields but did not expose a photo in the observed result.
For a released state prisoner, first use the Released Inmate List to match the SCDC ID, release date, release type, and committing county. Then request an existing SCDC image through the agency's FOIA channel if needed for identity. Release is not guaranteed. A state photo does not replace the Beaufort jail image when the question concerns a separate local booking.
The SCDC Victim Services page illustrates a state release-notification channel distinct from a photo search.

Notification, current incarceration, historical discharge, and image access are separate state functions. Keep each conclusion tied to its source.
Read Beaufort Booking Photos Carefully
A mugshot proves only that a booking image was created for the associated episode, subject to identity verification. The offense label is an allegation or case descriptor, not a final judgment. A bond amount is not a release type. The photo also cannot establish present location after transfer or release.
- Booking photo
- An image created during intake and tied to that custody episode.
- Disposition
- The court's recorded outcome, such as dismissed, not guilty, or guilty.
- Expungement
- A statutory process that can remove qualifying records from public access.
- Redaction
- Removal of protected content from an otherwise releasable record.
Use the Beaufort Public Index for court events and the county release timestamp for jail departure. When one charge is dismissed, another hold can still continue custody. When an official image is gone, consider legal removal before assuming the booking never occurred.
Beaufort Mugshot Destruction Rules
South Carolina §17-1-40 addresses destruction of qualifying government arrest and booking material after certain discharge, dismissal, or not-guilty outcomes. That material can include mugshots and fingerprints. Statutory qualifications apply, so the court disposition and exact record custodian matter.
The captured statute provides the official legal text governing destruction and the state's separate commercial publication rule.

A missing county image may be the correct result of the law. Do not use cached copies to reconstruct material the government was required to destroy.
Beaufort Mugshot Removal Rights
Section 17-1-60 prohibits obtaining South Carolina arrest or booking records while planning to publish them and charge for removal or revision. It also bars demanding payment to remove, revise, or withhold such material. For a qualifying result, the law provides a certified-mail, no-fee request process and generally requires removal within thirty days after a compliant request.
The request must identify the person, arrest date and agency, exact publication location, and certified proof of discharge, dismissal, expungement, or not guilty result. A plea to a lesser or different charge may support revision instead. This law does not make every government booking photograph confidential. It controls abusive commercial practices and gives qualifying people a direct remedy.
Beaufort Expunged Mugshot Records
South Carolina expungement law can change what remains searchable. Sections 17-22-910 through 950 assign qualifying processes to the circuit solicitor. Section 17-22-950 requires qualifying summary-court Internet records for dismissed, nolle-prossed, or not-guilty matters to be removed within thirty days and supplies a no-cost process.
The official Title 17, Chapter 22 text is the controlling source for those rules.

The law explains why a valid old booking image may later vanish from an official source. Juvenile, sealed, exempt, and expunged material should be respected at the rule level, not sought through alternate mirrors.
Beaufort Mugshots Beyond Official Sources
Local reporting or an official agency news release may include a booking image for a specific public event. Such an image is a story artifact. It is not a systematic released-person database and cannot prove current custody. Its caption may also reflect what officials knew at publication rather than a later court outcome.
Commercial galleries and data brokers can carry stale, duplicated, or misidentified images. No commercial mugshot site is linked or endorsed here. Return to the county release timestamp, the booking record, and the court disposition. If a qualifying record was removed, use the statutory correction route and do not attempt to recover it from an unofficial copy.
